Get your spooky on

Get your spooky on

Spooky season is well and truly amongst us. Here’s our guide to a creepy Halloween this year.

Read:

Salems Lot, Stephen King. It wouldn’t be a Halloween recommendation blog without paying homage to Stephen King. Think vampire hunting.

The Haunting of Hill House, Shirley Jackson. If you’ve seen the show (spoiler it’s great), then be prepared for the book to blow your mind. Think eerie.

The Chesnut Man, Soren Sveistrup. A classic murderer on the loose, with dark twists and turns. Think suspenseful.

Watch:

Evil Dead Rise (2023). Contrary to popular consensus, we are big fans of the re-worked Evil Dead Rise. It’s gory, suspenseful, and straight-up scary. Not for those with weak stomachs.

Hereditary (2018). A psychological horror that unpacks dark secrets following the death of a family member. You’ll be holding your breath the whole time, or losing your head.

Sinister (2012). Explores the consequences of delving too deep into the darkness of the past. Think of possession and molevance.

Psycho Killer, Talking Heads.

Drink:

Bloody Mary

100ml vodka

500ml tomato juice

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Few shakes Worcestershire sauce

Few shakes Tobasco

Pinch celery salt

Pinch black pepper

2 celery sticks to serve

Step 1: Place ice into a jug, and measure the vodka, tomato juice, and lemon juice straight into the jug.

Step 2: Add 3 shakes of Worcerhshire sauce and Tabasco, a pinch of celery and pepper. Stir until combined.

Step 3: Strain into 2 tall glasses, add your celery and enjoy.

Level up your spooky drink with eyeball ice cubes

Lychees (fresh or canned)

Blueberries

Step 1: Carefully press a blueberry into the opening of the lychee, repeat, and place it into a DrinksPlinks iice cube tray. We recommend the Sassy Sphere or Bold Megacube for these.

Step 2: Fill with water and freeze, ideally for at least 5 hours! Enjoy your creepy (but yummy) drink.

Embrace the thrills and chills of Halloween with these spine-chilling recommendations and make this year's celebration unforgettable. Happy haunting!
